My 1st Sandstorm

This is my first post here since I landed in Dubai. It has been hectic and hopefully more posts in days to come.

I was looking forward to the weekend. My dive gear arrived during the week and I was eager to go for a dive at Jumeirah beach this weekend.

However, yesterday the Met. Dept. issued a warning of a sandstorm. Here's an extract taken from http://www.gulfnews.com/

"The windy weather is expected to clear by Monday. After that the shamal winds will help bring down temperatures to about 13 degrees Celsius.
High winds of 45 kilometres per hour are expected on Friday, and are likely to throw up a dust haze over any open areas.
The gusty winds will whip up sands on both sides of road, reducing visibility to less than 200 metres."

Here are some pics taken from the balcony.

Time: 2.52pm (Visibility is less than 500m)

Time: 5.52pm (Visibility improving with skyscrapers at Sheikh Zayed Rd still appearing hazy)

This is what the scenery would look like on a hot sunny afternoon!
